"Crysek peace" is an oxymoron.

Vespid Heterodonyx, commenting on the inherent aggressive nature of the Crysek.

The Crysek are a species of space faring organisms with vague insectoid features and isolationist policies.

History

The Crysek, in one form or the other, have had organized government for hundreds of years. Concise history does not exist outside of the home-world. In-fact, concise history may not even exist on their homeworld due to the oppressive nature of the Currai Imperium's rule.

What information is known starts roughly around 4,000 BRE when the Currai Imperium invaded and subdued the entire world. Their homeworld was designated for manufacturing and the radiation-resistant Crysek were soon forcibly used for cheap labor. Imperium rule lasted for ninety-two years until the world was liberated by the Enlightened Ones' forces. During this period, most of the original culture and history was lost to slavery, destruction of most major landmarks and points of importance, and the restriction levied against all forms of self-expression and thought, which included religion. The Crysek remain a prominent example of the destructive nature of the Imperium's rule.

Once Imperium rule was lifted, the world of slaves descended into a violent, anarchic state. Factions would soon begin rising and falling to the drums of war and the pain of famine. This state of perpetual destruction would last for hundreds of years, until larger factions developed space travel. These continued conflicts would take a new turn as the larger factions used their space-born capabilities to attain dominance. After a particularly violent war between the remaining large factions, the world was united under a homogeneous world government, and peace was finally attained. Under this faction, the ancient religion reasserted itself in the form known by most in this time. What remains of their religion is now only a gross deformation of what it was nearly five-hundred years ago.

Around 910 PRE, the Crysek had fully ventured out into their solar system. Their religion surprisingly spurred their continued march into space, and they made progress at a fairly speedy pace. Their advancement was only accelerated by the discovery of several buried Imperium war-supply caches containing weapons, star-ships, and other forms of technology relatively untouched. The Crysek soon claimed and studied this technology, adapting it for their own use. Within fifty years, with the Imperium technology serving as a catalyst, the Crysek had gone from liquid-fuel rocket-vessels with paper-thin hulls, and no shielding, to a technological state identical to the Imperium's level.

The years around 960 PRE saw a transitional time where advancement slowed. Several attempts to join the galactic community were pursued, but ultimately failed. All progression halted when the Corruption spread throughout the galaxy, reigning destruction on galactic establishments. The Crysek survived, but took heavy casualties, and were driven back to their homeworld.

After the Corruption threat had been thwarted, expansion began once more. Armed with the manufacturing processes of a large conquest driven empire of old, their forces were replenished to a workable state within a few years. Several mega-projects were organized as well, to secure the Crysek's place as a power in the local galactic arena. Unfortunately for the Crysek, a member of the same empire their technology was derived from masterminded a plan that would see one of their main mega-projects destroyed along with a majority of their star-fleet by the Keilicaela Empire, Ashderian Regime, and an Illanian taskforce.

As of now, the Crysek are recovering from the massive casualties dealt by the small alliance and operating on only 7% of their initial fleet-mass. All other data regarding Crysek history is incomplete.

Factions

There are two known Crysek factions:

At one time, both of these factions were at war over the Heretics' right to secede and fundamental religious differences.

Physiology

To be added later.

Technology

A wealth of information about their technological capabilities was confirmed during the Heretic-Conglomerate Conflict. As speculated, Crysek technology is currently several generations behind that of most known sentient species. Crysek technology is blatantly derivative of Imperium technology, and in some cases, direct copies.

Additional Info

They are highly religious, and exhibit aggressive traits (often times driven by this religion.)

Culture and Society

In general, very little has been gathered on their culture; however, key information is known about their society--the most notable being the extreme class divide. Existing in Crysek society are the "Opulents," the "Indigents," and a nearly immeasurable middle class. (Statistics indicate that of the population, 23% are Opulents, 77% are Indigents, and the unnamed middle class lands in the .000004% range.)

The Opulents

The Opulents are high-class citizens that possess wealth, power and property (space, airspace, land, smaller stellar bodies, starships etc.)

The Indigents

The Indigents are, simply put, poor. Often, they have nothing but a couple of rags to cover their bodies. The Indigents are considered filth, and military personnel can be seen gunning them down for sport. To keep the Indigent population down, the government will round them up either for forced labor, weapons experimentation, or mass execution. They are found on the outskirts of most Crysek cities.
