The Ashderians are a sentient space-faring species of amphibian organisms.

Subspecies
The Ashderian race has five known subspecies, with only four still living. While most Ashderians of today are mixed breeds, there are a few of the individual subspecies left. These make up the Purists. The five subspecies are as listed:
The Oceanics
The first Ashderian species. All other subspecies are derived from the Oceanics. They could only breathe underwater, and had fins in place of legs. Data on this species is lacking, however, they were said to be sentient. As of current, no Oceanic Ashderian remains.
The Volcanics
Originally thrived in areas where underwater volcanoes were prevalent. This is one of the species that developed the ability to breathe both while submerged underwater and in normal atmosphere. This is most likely because they needed to climb onto land or float above the water to hunt for food. Because they evolved in environments filled with sulfur and other toxic contaminants, they have a high resistance to toxic substances. They also possess thicker and darker skin along with the ability to build muscle mass much faster than other subspecies.
The Icelanders
As their name suggests, this subspecies evolved in extremely cold environments; areas where ice was very abundant. Their eyes can cope with higher levels of light due to living in environments where the sun would glare off of the ice. This is also another species that developed the ability to breathe either submerged or in normal atmosphere. This most likely is derived from the need to hunt above the ice. Their skin is lighter than most Ashderians. Icelanders have been known to have a temper.
The Depth-Dwellers
Depth-Dwellers evolved to thrive in the deepest part of the oceans where no light exists. Their skin color is a light grey, supplemented by pure white eyes. They cannot see, but they have developed other forms of perception to make up for the lack of sight. Depth-Dwellers are the only subspecies that did not develop legs and the ability to breathe in both the atmosphere and the water. This subspecies also has the strongest bone structure--to cope with the huge amount of pressure encountered at the depths these Ashderians live.
The Inlanders
The Inlanders developed traits to supplement the freshwater environments they found themselves in. Often times when they needed to find a more sufficient food source, they would have to cross land. Eventually they developed traits to hunt on land as well. This resulted in sharper eyesight, quicker reflexes and a more slender body profile. Their skin color is a greenish-blue.
