Mantle of the Forgotten

The Mantle of the Forgotten is a cloak of unknown origin reported to bestow its wearer with powers that border on the supernatural. Its alien fibers are woven with an unidentified material that seems to completely absorb light, and the article itself is said to be "like a shroud of purest shadow". Its most prominent capability is the capacity to totally manipulate photons within a short range. This can be used to great effect, surrounding those clad in a veil of obscuring darkness, as well as protecting them from light-based weaponry. This photon energy, robbed of its original intent, can be held in suspension around the wielder until it is repurposed into blinding flashes of light or precise beams of searing power.
