Nyx is a high ranking Revenant within the Vigilant and the commandress of the Shades of Tyton.

Acension Stage

Nyx can be classified as a Revenant, a sapio-synthetic artificial intelligence whose nanite neural network was composed from an organic brain infected with a mutated strain of the Corruption Virus. She utilizes an avatar that resembles the organic body she had in life, albiet with some restorations, and minor changes that hint at the form's artificial nature.

Appearance

Possessed of violet-black plumage, and skin of an onyx hue, Nyx overall can be described as tall, lithe, and uncomfortably bereft of subconscious movement. Her golden eyes have slitted pupils, and what one would call her head of "hair" is long, thick, and often parts in a way that the bangs obscure her right eye. The nails that adorn her hands and feet are short, sharp, and appear to be made from a dark metal. She is covered from the neck down in pitch black markings that indicate her position as head of the Shades of Tyton.

Personality

Nyx most often maintains a grim, solemn, demeanor when interacting with others, a result of her training in kinesics. This attitude is a false one however; to her close confidants Nyx is known to be modest, contemplative, and caring.

Skills

Her sharp mind and quick appraisal of the evolving battlefield environment enables her to be a skilled tactician in unconventional warfare. In addition, she is said to be endowed with enhanced reflexes, kinesthetic awareness, and a century's worth of experience that renders her a lethal hunter that ambushes her opponents where and when they least expect it.

History

Childhood

Nyx was born to a well off colonial household established in Liene, one of the platforms that make up the collective megastructure of Tyton. She was but a child exploring the wilderness near the family estate when she mysteriously fell unconsious. Unbeknownst to her, the artificial intelligence controlling the platforms, a being the native inhabitants of Liene refer to as the "Watcher", afflicted her with its mark. When she awoke she returned to her worried caretakers, whom noticed the strange marking upon further inspection. This symbol, seemingly inked upon the back of her neck, was fairly interpreted as an ill omen. See, for most of their history the Lienen colony had not had good experiences with the Watcher, from territorial natives who worshipped it like a god, to hostile and unnatural storms and animals. So when this information was given to the head of the family, a noble of lesser lineage, their first plan of action was to institute a cover-up, to hide the mark and force her nursemaids to take a vow of silence so that it could not damage the lineage's reputation. This worked, at least for a while, but eventually Nyx began to exhibit unwanted behaviours; auditory and visual hallucinations were common, whispering voices and shadowy beings that, depending on the context, would either incite her into fits of delusion or fear. Because of this she became a social pariah, and was not able to develop proper communication skills. All this came to a head, when one day her phantasms stopped being so imaginary; gloomy spectres began to appear wherever she went, one's that weren't just percieved by her, but others as well. These flickering phantoms brought with them a spreading insanity, one that swept through the city like an epidemic. The colonial government, faced with what they percieved as a witch, stepped in at this point to contain the chaos. It did not take long to find and arrest her, in part because she was the epicenter of this disaster, and because of her immaturity and feelings of vindication she was found wildly exclaiming about how she finally had proof that she wasn't insane. To reiterate, Nyx, a child at this time, ended up spending several days in a dim cell, despite the pleading of her family. During this time, the plague of madness only grew, while an unusual fog blew in from the south-west. With the situation continuing to spiral out of their control, she was sentenced to be burned at the stake by sundown, as they hoped that with her death the manifestations would cease. The implement of execution was erected in the center of town, and a crowd of those people affected that still functioned began to gather. She was fetched from imprisonment, and despite being so young she well understood the implications of what was happening. Brought out kicking, biting, scratching, and screaming, she was eventually bound to the post and beset upon by what was now an angry mob. The torment they inflicted upon her was both verbal and physical, throwing objects both dangerous and disgusting, and yelling incoherent threats in equal measure. Bruises, scratches, and a gouge upon the forehead that covered half her face in crimson were but a component of the terror and anger she was experiencing that day; these emotions did not stay contained however, they spread out across her projected illusions, the crowd unwittingly causing the shadowy spectres to become larger, and more threatening. The fire beneath her was lit, the final provocation before the conjured nightmares set upon the mob. As Nyx began to burn, the threats and the yelling became the screams of the maimed and the dying. Obscured by the fog and smoke, the stake was snapped in two by the weight of a fully grown man being thrown like a ragdoll at its peak. Injured and mentally scarred, Nyx escaped from her broken bindings and fled out into the wild, running as far as her legs would carry her before she collapsed from exhaustion.

Syndicate Knowledge

The first notable reports the Syndicate possess that possibly reveal Nyx's existence are through mentions of a guerilla force operating behind enemy lines during the War of Deliverance. The records go on to further elaborate that the outfit, lead by a shadowy valeynx warrior, were responsible for assassinating a string of important Currai Imperium leaders and sabotaging crucial supply lines, crippling the enemy's overall war effort.

Notable Equipment

Nyx is known for wearing a cloak of unknown origin, known as the Mantle of the Forgotten. When taking to the battlefield she is often seen donning a suit of TIP-2 "Wraith" powered armor, as well as wielding a modified Keilicaelaac Pulse spear named the Nightstalker's Lance.
