Manumarian
The Manumarians are a forcefully-modified species of biologically immortal "blobs" that inhabit the system Balnetin is found in.
History
When the Manumarians became space fairing Like many other space-faring civilizations, they quickly discovered that life across the Root Universe was vast and numerous despite the requirements for life. With this knowledge, a large faction of Manumarians would form Ciphers of Continuation with the intent of categorizing and creating a vast database on the different circumstances that produced the different species. The database would come to be known as the "Anthology of Species". Their pursuit of this knowledge would eventually bring the ire of the Currai Imperium to their door step, noticing the manumarians tendency to modify other creatures the Imperium decided to use the manumarians as test subjects to create true living empaths. This process left the manumarians as generic blobs unable to much other then sense the basic thoughts of other around them, many of them with their minds still intact like a brain in a jar. Eventually the project was deemed a failure as the imperium did not get the precision they sought after and left both the manumarians and their home-world within the balnetin system in ruins. Eventually the manumarians adapted to their new forms and gained control, at first only able to move around, then they slowly were able to control the shape and before they knew it themselves they were able to recrate muscles and tissues, giving a greater control over themselves then they could have imagined. Today they take up a facility of their original forms as means to never loose themselves to the monsters they can become if they go down the path of inhumane torture that was placed upon them.
Charcteristics
Manumarians can vary greatly from person to person in both personalities and physical characteristics but share a higher sense of self-worth and a cultural appreciation for the accomplishments that it took to get them to where they are today.
Physical
While Manumarians don't need to share physical similarities they have culturally kept characteristics from what their ancestral forms used to look like before they gain their current genetic manipulation skills, those would include:

Sub-Species
With being so heavily self modified, many have taken up their own traits indicative of their own groups.
Primal Manumarians:
While being considered a subspecies, these Manumarians are closely related to the ancestors that have become that amorphous beings that would be known to the rest of the galaxy, they are warm blooded Reptilianoids with frilled tails, enlarged skulls and large clawed hands. They can primarily be found on Balnetin deep underground, and few even knows of their existence even within the different factions of the Manumarians.
