The First Fleet is the capital Ashderian warfleet, overseen by the Head Navarch, or by the Ashderian Regime's leader.

Description

The First Fleet stands as the Vokyran Ascendancy’s capital fleet. Because of its long-standing institutional history and heritage with the primary Ashderian factions, this fleet carries out a ceremonial role in addition to standard duty. Serving in this fleet is regarded as an honor, with only the most skilled individuals assigned there.

History

The First Fleet traces its origins all the way back to the earliest missions carried out by the Enlightened Ones. The fleet—in one iteration or another—has participated in nearly all major Ashderian-involved conflicts as the head fleet of the time's dominant Ashderian faction. It has heritage spanning all the way from the Enlightened Ones, to the Independent Rivioki Empire, and finally the Vokyran Ascendancy/Ashderian Regime. Most notably in recent times, the fleet joined the Armada of Namine's Fire in their crusades against the Corruption, played a dominant role in the Crysek Conflict, and participated in the Battle of the Boundary.

Naming

Originally, the Enlightened Ones adopted a utilitarian naming convention for their fleets, which assigned them a number in an ascending order. These numbers were kept in place until the Riviok began assigning newer ones. They decided to keep the First Fleet’s designation, but it gained a new meaning; it represented the elongated service the fleet had with the Ashderians, being the first modern war fleet. The name had evolved into a name of pride and distinction for those who operated within it, and a name of steadfast spirit for all others who hear it evoked.

Trivia

  • This indeed was the first post-Imperium fleet.
  • The fleet is technically older than all post-Imperium Ashderian institutions.
  • Nikan was alive when the First Fleet was originally established, and even served there for a few missions. He finds comfort in the fact that it has survived in some manor for as long as he has, and is its largest advocate.
