Zhil'kresa

Zhil'kresa is the only city on Drayanus. The last mark of the Cherak species, it is the only settlement the Blackened Ones have not destroyed.

History

Zhil'kresa is an ancient city that existed long before the emergence of the Blackened Ones, though it had a different name in those times. The name has long since been lost to time, but the meaning of Zhil'kresa's current name all but confirms it was once called something different. In the Cherak tongue, "zhil" translates to "bastion," and "kresa" translates to "fortress."

Zhil'kresa has been the capital of the Cherak people since their inception and was the first city to receive fortifications once the Blackened Ones were perceived as a threat. A wall climbing five-hundred feet in the air and constructed of the most stalwart metal alloy known to the Cherak was built around the city's perimeter. This wall has no gate; the only way out of the city is in the canopy of a Mozvok or the undercarriage of a Frehykh (though there are a few forcefield alcoves near the 100-foot mark of the wall, allowing these animals out without having to scale the wall's whole length). Dotted along the wall's perimeter are monolithic sentry towers, each topped with a quadruple-barreled energy-based turret meant to incinerate Blackened Ones whole. The wall and turrets, along with several other armaments, have earned Zhil'kresa the name of "bastion-fortress."
