The Reformation Epoch Calendar is a calendar created and used by the Waspcaela Empire.

History

The Reformation Epoch Calendar was enacted by the Keilicaela Empire as its official calendar upon the Empire's birth in the Gregorian year of 1939. The name does not, as some uninformed outsider observers believe, refer to the reformation of the First Empire into the Second; rather, it refers to the reformation of Keilicaela society and culture as a whole. Under the yoke of the Currai Imperium, Keilicaela culture was largely wiped out (markedly with the decline of the Cult of Namine); Keilicaela society became subservient to the Imperium. Thus, Keilicaela culture and society as it once existed was destroyed and would have to be "reformed" to become whole again; Namine, under the rule of the Imperium, existed in a time before this reformation would take place: thus, these years are called "Before the Reformation Epoch (BRE)."

After the Imperium was cast from Namine, there would be no other intervening species to lord over and control the Keilicaela, leaving them to their own devices on their homeplanet. This era of uninterrupted Keilicaela interaction is called the "Reformation Epoch," and is the aformentioned "reformation," called the "Reformation Epoch (RE)" by the calendar. Through years of war, politics, trading, strife, and other such dealings with one another, Keilicaela society and culture would be reformed under the direct influence of no species but the Keilicaela.

The Reformation Epoch would come to a close just 252 years after it started. All following years are referred to as "Post-Reformation Epoch (PRE)." With the end of the reformation came the Keilicaela Empire. With the Reformation Epoch Calendar being the Empire's official calendar, it is only logical that the Empire would mark the end of the reformation as their beginning; the Empire regards itself as the culmination of the blood shed during the reformation. This new society and culture that was to be formed after the Imperium destroyed the old was the Keilicaela Empire.

Despite the disbandment of the First Empire, the colonies left behind largely continued to use the Reformation Epoch Calendar, keeping it relevant to post-Corruption Keilicaela societies. By the time the Second Empire came to power, the year was 183 PRE. Seeing no reason to change the calendar or otherwise break tradition (largely due to the Second Empire being comprised of mostly the same core components as the first), the Reformation Epoch Calendar was quickly upheld by the Second Empire and continues to persist to this day.
