==Physiology & Appearance==
The Ashderian race has five known subspecies, with only four still extant. While most Ashderians of today are mixed breeds, there are a few contemporary examples of individuals with no admixture; these make up the Purists. The five subspecies are as listed:

==== The Oceanics ====
===Subspecies===
The first Ashderian species. All other subspecies are derived from the Oceanics. They could only breathe underwater, and had fins in place of legs. Data on this species is lacking; however, they were said to be sapient. As of current, no Oceanic Ashderian remains.
Through bio-forming and advanced genetic manipulation, the Ashderian race has seen multiple subspecies created. Currently, only a few are commonly found in galaxy. Many modern Ashderians are mixed breeds, there are a few contemporary examples of individuals with no admixture; either from pure-blood lines or genetic-reversion. The known subspecies are as listed:

==== The Volcanics ====
Volcanics originally thrived in areas where underwater volcanoes were prevalent. This is one of the subspecies that developed the ability to breathe both while submerged underwater and in normal atmosphere. This is most likely because they needed to climb onto land or float above the water to hunt for food. Because they evolved in environments filled with sulfur and other toxic contaminants, they have a high resistance to toxic substances. They also possess thicker and darker skin along with the ability to build muscle mass much faster than other subspecies.

==== The Icelanders ====
==== Terrestrials====
As their name suggests, the Icelanders evolved in extremely cold environments; areas where ice was very abundant. Their eyes can cope with higher levels of light due to living in environments where the sun would glare off of the ice. This is also another species that developed the ability to breathe either submerged or in normal atmosphere. This most likely is derived from the need to hunt above the ice. Their skin is lighter than most Ashderians. Icelanders have been known to have a temper.

==== The Depth-Dwellers ====
Depth-Dwellers evolved to thrive in the deepest part of the oceans, where no light exists. Their skin color is a light gray, supplemented by pure white eyes. They cannot see, but they have developed other forms of perception to make up for the lack of sight. Depth-Dwellers are the only subspecies that did not develop legs and the ability to breathe in both the atmosphere and the water. This subspecies also has the strongest bone structure--to cope with the huge amount of pressure encountered at the depths these Ashderians live.

==== The Inlanders ====
==== Spacers ====
The Inlanders developed traits to supplement the freshwater environments they found themselves in. Often times, they would need to cross land in order to find sufficient sources of food. Eventually, they developed traits to hunt on land as well. This resulted in sharper eyesight, quicker reflexes and a more slender body profile. Their skin color is a greenish-blue.

==== Radiants ====

==== Scorched ====

==== Subspecies 7 ====
This subspecies was designed for harsh environments and combat. They are known to be ultra-aggressive and are a fusion between synthetic and organic elements; essentially cyborgs. Notable features include metallic bone-structures, fundamental nanite integration, and many times, [[Veil of Webs|Veil Manipulation]] implants. Their aggression, strength, and resiliency resulted in a particularly volatile subspecies of Ashderian. This subspecies is extinct, and the genetic profiles associated with them are highly classified. This is one of a the few subspecies where subspecies-conversion is almost completely impossible, due to the extensive physical differences between standard subspecies, and this one.

Inter-conversion is possible between most subspecies and features, though there are some, like Subspecies 7, where it is generally considered not possible. The subspecies-conversion industry is heavily regulated by the Vokyran Ascendancy, and there are many rules and regulations stipulating when and how this can be done.

The Ashderians are a sapient species of bipedal, tetrabrachial space-faring organisms with vaguely amphibian characteristics.

History

The Ashderians had their largest impact on history in the form of the Currai Imperium, a brutal regime that once held an entire arm of the Milky Way Galaxy through slavery and genocide. The Enlightened Ones, who would go on to form the Vokyran Ascendancy, successfully toppled the Imperium with the assistance of their allies in the Vigilant and established themselves on Voyakarai. After the Tyriit sundered Voyakarai in 895 PRE, the Ascendancy would reform into the Ashderian Regime, shifting the primary Ashderian presence in the Milky Way to High K'Kero, a clandestine space-bound super-habitat in a hidden star system. Most Ashderians in contemporary times belong to either the Ashderian Regime or the Vigilant, both Syndicate powers.

Subspecies 7

This subspecies was designed for harsh environments and combat. They are known to be ultra-aggressive and are a fusion between synthetic and organic elements; essentially cyborgs. Notable features include metallic bone-structures, fundamental nanite integration, and many times, Veil Manipulation implants.

Subspecies-Conversion

Thanks to extremely advanced medical technology, it is possible for an individual to "change their race" at the expense of time and great sums of money. Inter-conversion is possible between most subspecies and features, though there are some, like Subspecies 7, where it is generally considered not possible. The subspecies-conversion industry is heavily regulated by the Vokyran Ascendancy, and there are many rules and regulations stipulating when and how this can be done.

Trivia

  • The name "Ashderian" shares linguistic similarities with the parent species who designed them, the Oshdur. This is because, when translated, the names share root words.
